The Ukrainian folk Choir named after G. Verevka was founded on September 11, 1943 in Kharkiv. Most of the participants were former collective-farmers and workers without any musical education who strove and learned as they worked, mastering the secrets of choral, musical and dancing art. The ensemble includes a mixed chorus a folk instrument orchestra and a dancing group. They set themselves the task of reviving and fostering Ukrainian musical folklore in a new artistic interpretation. The performing style of the Verevka Ukrainian Folk Choir is characterized by an organic blend of Ukrainian choral traditions with the features of classical choral art.
